Dear SBA Community Members,

Tuesday, November 28, 2023 is recognized across the globe as a day of targeted philanthropy to assist non-profit organizations in closing the gap between the actual cost of operating their organization and fulfilling their mission and their existing sources of revenue.

Gifts made to the 2023-2024 Annual Fund allow us to offer programs and services that are unique to SBA. We have been especially challenged recently to provide meaningful salary increases for our employees who are battling inflationary cost of living expenses while also setting tuition rates that reflect the fiscal realities of many within our parent community grappling with these same concerns. To do that and to offer our complete array of experiences, we depend on a tax-deductible source of revenue generated by our community members to supplement tuition in our operating cost.

In a larger context, the vast majority of independent schools around the state and the nation face similar challenges and employ this annual fund instrument as an important part of their budgetary process. Thank you to all those who have already committed to the Annual Fund this year!

Funding an independent school with aspirations to be an industry leader is inarguably an expensive proposition and one that is shouldered largely by the parent body whose children enjoy the benefits of the school experience. There are other friends of the school – non-parent trustees, members of the SBA Board of Ambassadors, alumni parents, alumni, local business leaders, and family and community foundations – who believe in our mission and contribute generously. The success of these fundraising endeavors lies solely with us.  The sense of pride and community derived from creating a stronger SBA experience for our children is our reward.

On behalf of all non-profit organizations but especially St. Bernard Academy, thank you for participating in Giving Tuesday!

Respectfully,
Leigh Toomey

make your #Givingtuesday gift today!

SBA does a fantastic job of keeping each student engaged and learning regardless of their ability; and, they work very hard to put the best interests of our children first. I give to the Annual Fund each year because my gift provides financial flexibility to the SBA administration to create and try new learning experiences for all its students.
