Summer Programs

At St. Bernard Academy, summer is a fantastic opportunity to maintain the progress made during the school year, acquire new skills, and explore new areas beyond the school curriculum.

Our summer programs, including our Summer Play Days and PAWS Summer Camps, help to enrich our students’ knowledge and further enhance their SBA experience.

Summer Play Days

During Summer Play Days, children experience activities ranging from water play and group games, to individual art projects, guest speakers, and more! Summer Play Days is open Monday - Friday during the summer with doors opening for free play at 8:00 AM. Additional information on our 2020 Summer Play Days will be posted in the spring.

PAWS Summer Camps

SBA PAWS Summer Camps allow students from Junior Kindergarten through 8th level the opportunity to explore a variety of academic, athletic, and enrichment activities in a fun environment. PAWS Camp instructors include SBA faculty, staff, and special guests.

Please note that SBA PAWS Camps will be on hiatus for summer 2020, but more information on future camps, including registration information and complete camp descriptions, will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Some of our recent PAWS Summer Camps have included:

Brain Camp (Ages 3-7)

During Brain Camp, campers are challenged with a variety of fun activities that promote problem-solving, teach memory strategies, and exercise core brain skills. During the week, campers learn to set S.M.A.R.T. goals; compete in fun brain games for prizes and awards; discover life-changing principles regarding attitudes, work ethic and motivation; and participate in fast-paced games designed to exercise important cognitive skills including memory, visual processing, and logic and reasoning.

Rock Star Girls (Grades 1-4)

There are no cooler people in the world than GIRLS! In Rock Star Girls, girls celebrate who they are by learning about health, wellness, peer pressure, and making a difference. They dedicate the week to building confidence, celebrating diversity, and being their own unique selves! A variety of activities for the week include team building games, friendship crafts, spa treatments, and yoga to empower the awesome inside of you! At the end of camp, girls leave knowing they have the confidence inside of them to be a rock star!

Summer Clay Fun (Grades 1-8)

Summer Clay Fun delights children with projects based on animals, nature, and usable pottery (mugs, bowls, etc.). Projects encourage imagination and creativity, focusing on increasing hand building skills and having a try at one of the potter’s wheels! Sculptors make at least four projects and have the opportunity to paint and glaze many of them.

JK Rocks / Fine Motor Fun (JK)

JK Rocks focuses on fun, engaging, and hands-on activities focused on letter/number recognition, cooperative play, social skills, and school readiness. Students also work on fine motor skills to aid the development of handwriting, preparing children for entering the world of big kid school!

Sounds Abound (Kindergarten)

In Sounds Abound, fun, multi-sensory activities are enjoyed, encouraging the development of letter/sound awareness. Other phonemic awareness activities are also incorporated to provide the foundational skills necessary for beginning reading.
