At St. Bernard Academy, student enrichment opportunities extend beyond the traditional school day.
Many of our SBA students utilize after-school programming after the school day. In addition to our regular Aftercare Program, we offer a multitude of learning opportunities for students in the afternoon hours. Please read below for our Aftercare Enrichment catalog and current registration information.

Monday Enrichment Classes:
Brick Lab 101: Lego Science Club
Welcome to Brick Lab 101 where science and creativity collide! In this exciting after school club, students will explore real world STEM concepts using the *NEW* LEGO® Education Science kits. Each week builders will dive hands on into activities that bring topics like force, motion, energy, and simple machines to life. Students will engage in testing gravity, building catapults, solving environmental challenges and designing moving LEGO® models. This after school class is perfect for curious minds that like to tinker, invent, and get hands-on.

Chess
Chess Club gives students the chance to learn chess fundamentals, develop strategic thinking, and compete in friendly matches.

Fencing
Students will learn the basics of fencing through the TN Fencing Alliance. At the end of the 10-week session, there will be a mini fencing tournament where students receive medals and certificates to celebrate their progress. In May, the TN Fencing Alliance will host a tournament where SBA students will have the opportunity to participate and proudly represent their school against other competing institutions.

Golf
Students will learn basic skills, improve technique, and enjoy the game in a fun, supportive setting.

Little Book Club
Come join Ms. Mary in a fun and engaging book club experience! Little Book Club will offer a unique book club experience to students to nurture their love for books while enhancing their literacy skills along the way. Each session, students will be introduced to a new read aloud. We will have a whole group discussion about the book, incorporating skills like identifying the characters, setting, and theme. We will then have a fun, book-based craft and a play-based sensory activity.

Muay Thai Martial Arts
Led by instructor DJ Miller, this Muay Thai class offers students a structured, partner-based introduction to the sport. Students learn proper punching techniques and mitt work while rotating roles with partners, allowing everyone to practice both striking and holding mitts. Gloves and mitts are included in the class.
Each session also incorporates plyometrics, conditioning, and stretching, with intentional time for reflection and emotional expression. Beyond physical skill, Muay Thai emphasizes respect, discipline, self-control, and confidence—teaching students not just how to fight, but when not to. This program provides a powerful outlet for focus, fitness, and personal growth, especially for middle school students.

Origami and Paper Crafting Club
Ms. Anne Marie, a long time SBA parent and teacher aide, will be sharing her love of origami with you. Students will also be learning to make crafts and games out of paper, including the “fortune tellers” that were popular in Ms. Anne Marie’s childhood days. We will also focus on paper airplane folding.

Pretty Polished Manners Club
Join Hayden Wilson, the only licensed Emily Post Children's Etiquette Trainer in the state of Tennessee, for an engaging and fun after-school series designed to make modern manners feel natural.
Through hands-on lessons, games, and props, students will explore topics like first impressions and introductions, everyday etiquette at home and school, sportsmanship and teamwork, dining etiquette and table settings, giving and receiving gifts, host/guest behavior, and much more!
Note: This is not a cotillion prep class. It's a lively, confidence-building experience focused on real-life social skills for today's kids.

Soccer Shots
Soccer Shots is an exciting, age-appropriate soccer program that builds basic soccer skills, confidence, and coordination through fun games and positive coaching. Sessions will be divided by grade level (Pre-K3 - JK and K - 1st).

Spanish Club (JK - 2nd Level)
Through games, songs, movement, and hands-on activities, students will learn basic Spanish vocabulary, including numbers, colors, and everyday words and phrases. Classes meet once a week on Tuesdays. To help offset materials and supplies, the cost per student is $400. Enrollment is limited to 12 students for the spring session.
Mrs. Ingrid, originally from Colombia, has been part of the SBA community for 16 years, including 13 years as a JK teacher.

Spanish Club (3rd - 5th Level)
Students will learn basic phrases for conversations, allowing them to speak and identify the Spanish language with clear, manageable steps, examples, and interactive exercises.

Theater Club Sr.
This after school program with the Nashville Shakespeare Festival will introduce students to the world of theater. They'll explore essential skills for performance of classic and contemporary pieces and get to experience the inner workings of stagecraft from behind the curtain. Students will have the opportunity to thrive in a performance setting from whichever side of the curtain they prefer.

Little Explorers - Made Science Club
Explode, explore, and discover "FIZZ"-ical and chemical reactions! Each week, young scientists will dive into hands-on experiments that bubble, fizz, and pop with excitement. Using LEGO bricks and other fun materials, campers will build, test, and create as they explore real science in a playful, imaginative way. Every student will also build their own Explorers Science Kit to take home at the end of the session!

Nail Club
Nail club is a fun and creative way for students to advance their fine motor control, practice prolonged focus, refine hand-eye coordination, and express themselves while discussing inner beauty and what makes each of us unique. This confidence-building club allows younger students to join together to introduce topics of self-care in a mindful and uplifting manner.
Each week, this club will start with yoga to get the body moving into a "me time" mindset, read a book about ways we can love ourselves more, and of course, paint our nails! All polish will be non-toxic and kid-safe.

Zumba with Ms. Kelli
This introductory Zumba club invites students to dance to fun, high-energy music while learning basic Zumba moves throughout the semester. Classes focus on building coordination, balance, flexibility, and light cardiovascular fitness in an engaging and age-appropriate way. Each session offers an energetic outlet and a confidence boost as students move, groove, and have fun together.

SPARK - Early Movement & Play
SPARK introduces young learners to movement, coordination, and play in a warm, developmentally thoughtful environment. Each session blends simple movement patterns, imaginative games, and early skill-building activities that help children strengthen balance, coordination, listening skills, and confidence. Activities are paced intentionally for Pre-K attention spans with a focus on safety, supervision, and positive engagement.

Studio Art Club
This enrichment opportunity will allow students to foster their creative ideas under the guidance and direction of Mrs. Seawell. The club will focus on 2-dimensional forms of art making such as painting, drawing, and mixed media. Supplies are included in the club fee. Mrs. Seawell is in her second year of teaching with SBA and has had her work featured at the Frist! Mrs. Seawell has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Belmont with emphasis in Painting and Sculpture and a Master of Education in Instructional Practice from Lipscomb.

Theater Club Jr.
This after school program with the Nashville Shakespeare Festival will introduce students to the world of theater by exploring and performing stories from around the world, beginning with William Shakespeare. They will practice and build life-long skills like speaking in front of people with confidence, being a team player, building body language vocabulary and awareness, and growing their creative self-expression.

Weave
Learn to weave with Mrs. Anne Marie, a craft wizard who loves to share her talent with students. Students will learn to make pot holders, projects with pot holders, and finger weaving chains/scarves while they hone their fine motor skills and creativity! Students will each take home their finished products. All supplies are included in the cost.

Yoga
A joyful, imagination-filled yoga class where little ones stretch, wiggle, breathe, and play their way through movement. Through stories, games, and simple poses, children build body awareness, social-emotional skills, and confidence - all in a nurturing environment families can feel great about.

Friday Enrichment Classes:
Sports Spectacular - Multi-sport FUNdamentals
Sports Spectacular is a high-energy, multisport program that gives students a fun and positive way to end the week. Each week highlights a different sport or activity such as soccer, basketball, kickball, wiffle ball, capture the flag, relay games, tag, obstacle challenges, and other age-appropriate athletic games. The program also features favorite OTA classics such as Knights and Dragons, Numbers Game, Safe Base, and more.
Activities are age-appropriate for younger and older students, emphasizing coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence in a safe, structured environment.

Storytime Chess
We're excited to introduce Story Time Chess as a weekly enrichment option for students! This award-winning program uses creative storytelling and lovable characters to teach young children the fundamentals of chess in a way that feels like play.
Each session helps students grow their confidence, practice critical thinking, and strengthen focus. Through interactive lessons, movement-based activities, and colorful visuals, children learn real chess skills while exploring the magical world of Chesslandia.

Tippi Toes Dance Class
We are so excited to announce Tippi Toes Dance will be offering a weekly dance class for our students at SBA. Each class focuses on building the children's confidence while exposing them to dance and music. Classes are fun, high-energy, and imaginative with ballet, tap, and jazz techniques integrated into the fun. Tippi Toes will offer a ballet Tap Jazz Combo for PreL3 - 1st level students. All students will have the opportunity to participate in a recital at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center in May.
