About Nashville
Those of us who have been here a while (say, since 1866) have always known Nashville to be an "It City." And now it seems the rest of the world knows, too.
Nashville is a vibrant and diverse city anchored by world leaders in healthcare, education, and of course, music. The downtown skyline is continuously changing as industry giants such as Amazon, Bridgestone, and Alliance Bernstein add their names to the tops of the buildings that overlook the beautiful Cumberland River.
Nashville is comprised of many lively neighborhoods filled with public parks and greenways. St. Bernard Academy, a part of the historic Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood, is flanked on either side by Vanderbilt University and Belmont University. Local author, and SBA Alumna, Ann Patchett has almost single-handedly revived the love affair people have long had with independent bookstores by opening Parnassus Books in the Green Hills neighborhood.
Once considered a “food desert," Nashville is now a foodie’s destination. Diners can tempt their taste buds on everything from Hattie B’s Hot Chicken to Maneet Chauhan’s delectable treats to James Beard award-winning chef Tandy Wilson’s creations.
There’s rarely an off-season in Nashville for the sports enthusiast. The Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators keep the field and the ice busy almost year round. The Nashville Sounds, a minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers, call the Germantown neighborhood their home and a night out at the park is an experience to remember!
Nashville is constantly changing and morphing, yet consistently staying the same friendly, welcoming, inclusive heart of the Southeast. St. Bernard Academy is right in the middle of it.
The sights and sounds of what made Nashville famous are still alive and thriving. From the Honky Tonks that line Broadway to Music Row’s historical walk, you can quickly see why singers, songwriters, and producers from all musical genres make Nashville their home.
